Everyone knows what happened on the first day of the year.

The battle between the two record label leaders later morphed into a battle between the fans of the two labels, YBNL/Mavin and awkwardly Mainland vs Island.

On January 1, 2016 at the 10th edition of The Headies award, one of the most talked about beef in the Nigerian music industry went down when YBNL leader, Olamide and Mavin Records boss, Don Jazzy came for each other.

The rift however was quickly resolved by Sunday, January 3, 2016 and fans began to wonder how and why the beef ended so soon. In some quarters, word filtered that the truce was brokered by Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote.

But this beef was however the most talked about feud of 2016.

  • Davido and The Momodus

The paternity battle between pop star, Davido and The Momodus started on December 31, 2015 but it spilled into the New Year. Davido took shots at the mother of his child saying she was unfit to be a mother and was responsible for the traces of marijuana found in his daughter.
The Momodus on the other hand claimed Davido’s family kidnapped the baby from her mother Sophie Momodu.

The fight which took center stage and was well documented on social media was most notably between Davido and Dele Momodu, whom he later apologized to.

The HKN star still went ahead to goof around about the saga on a couple of featured tracks during the year, including Humblesmith’s ‘Osinachi remix’ and Falz, ‘Bahd Badoo Baddest’.  Now, the saga will be heard about forever.

  • Dammy Krane and Wizkid’s Quilox saga

Earlier this year, pop act, Dammy Krane accused Wizkid of stealing his concepts and songs.
This was not the first time Dammy Krane had accused a fellow artiste of jacking from him. The issue between Wizkid and Dammy Krane left Twitter and went all ‘Hip Hop & Gangsta’ when Wizkid allegedly assaulted Dammy Krane at Quilox night club, and ended up smashing a bottle on his skull. The Entertainer came out of the scuffle with a big cut on his lip.

  • Psquare family feud

Earlier this year, to most music lovers, it seemed they had apparently seen the end of the award winning group that delivered six great albums as an internal fracas broke up within the family.
Peter Okoye, Paul Okoye, and Jude Okoye were big players in the long drama that ensued, with Peter firing their longtime partner elder brother Jude as his manager, setting up a new structure for his business, and going solo with a single. Paul too released a single, and was seen to have stuck with Jude against Peter’s wishes.

In a tell all exclusive interview with NET, Peter Okoye confessed all the details of the fight, explaining that Jude and Paul disrespected him and marginalized him, Paul had floated his personal band named MVP, and the inefficient business structure was hurting the brand and their decision-making process.

Even though the brothers are now back together and have released another smashing hit, this scandal went down as one of the BIGGEST entertainment news that shook the whole of Africa.

  • Seyi Shay EP goof

Seyi Shay’s and her successive Live TV goofs ( Her awful pronunciation of ‘two’ as ‘tuwoo’ and her declaration of ‘EP’ as ‘Electric Package’ rather than ‘Extended Play’)

  • Blacface Vs Wizkid/ 2face

Nigerian singer and Plantashun Boyz member Blackface entered the ring and took part in the all-star celebrity fight.
Blackface blasted Wizkid and his former band member 2face on Twitter for taking his songs without his permission.

These claims were coming after the Wizkid/Dammy Krane brouhaha. While Wizkid has ignored Blackface, 2face has said he holds no grudge against him.

Then said he wonder why someone would continue to accuse people of stealing songs while they are nothing.

  • Cynthia Morgan on live TV

Cynthia Morgan goofed big time on MTV base. The Northside act responded that ‘2×2’ is four and ‘4×2’ is ‘6’, when asked for the product of the mathematical equation ‘2x2x2’ on the first edition of Bigger Friday show.
This is just a little part of the goofs that has been committed by a lot of Celebrities this year.

So expect a sequel to this pretty soon. It under the wraps
