Students Protest: UNILAG Shut Down Indefinitely

University of Lagos (UNILAG) has shut down indefinitely as management suspended all academic activities. This came after students staged a protest on Thursday over poor electricity and water supply in the community, and the difficulty faced by students living outside the school campus to attend classes because of the ongoing fuel crisis.

In a statement titled “Immediate Closure of The University of Lagos” the management noted that the decision was reached so as to “prevent further breakdown of law and order on campus.”

Unconfirmed reports say that the the student union executives are being rounded up by security agents.

A tweet by the handle @unilagpressclub read “News getting to us says the ULSU (University of Lagos Student Union) president, Mohammed Olaniyan has been arrested”
